Upcoming SunVest Solar Project in Featured in Ozaukee Press Articles
SunVest Solar’s upcoming project with Charter Steel, an American supplier of special bar quality steel products, was recently featured in two Ozaukee Press articles. Located in Saukville, WI, the project will involve a 60-acre solar array, constructed and maintained by SunVest Solar, and is expected to be fully built and operational by May 2024. The project involves the installation of about 30,000 solar panels, producing 15 megawatts, or 8% of Charter Steel’s annual energy consumption. The 30,000-panel solar field will produce 27 million kilowatts annually, enough to power 2,500 family homes.
Charter Steel is the largest coil processor in North America, and one of the largest manufacturers in the country. It has made a $25 million investment to clean energy.
“The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that a proposal like the Charter Steel Solar Project will eliminate the equivalent of more than 21,000 tons of carbon dioxide, the main culprit that creates greenhouse gases, each year it operates.”
