Position Overview:
SunVest’s Legal team is responsible for providing comprehensive legal support across the organization, ensuring the company’s operations comply with applicable laws and regulations, and facilitating our ambitious growth plans through strategic legal counsel.
As the Paralegal, Real Estate, you will report directly to the Chief People & Legal Officer, and you will be responsible for supporting all legal aspects of SunVest’s real estate transactions. Your expertise in legal documentation and real estate procedures will be pivotal to SunVest’s ongoing success, contributing to our sustainable growth strategy and the development of strategic plans for managing and improving renewable energy generation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the legal team in all transactions, with a specific emphasis on reviewing and abstracting purchase agreements and ground leases, preparing critical dates memos and closing checklists, reviewing and analyzing title commitments, underlying title instruments, and boundary surveys, drafting summaries and objection letters relating to title reviews, and otherwise helping to orchestrate and maintain the momentum of these transactions.
- Assist in organizing and fulfilling conditions required to meet title requirements, conducting research on real property tax and ownership information, coordinating real estate closings along with your colleagues, monitoring the recording and issuance of final title insurance policies, and managing post-closing matters.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and managing commercial leases, amendments, and ancillary documents.
- Support in identifying and mitigating legal risks associated with real estate transactions and project financing.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide strategic legal support.
- Support the management of external legal counsel and related budgets to support specific project needs.
Qualifications:
- Strong preference for a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program (relevant work experience will also be considered as a substitute)
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in title and survey review.
- Proficiency in handling lease agreements, including land lease agreements, easements, and other real estate-related legal documents.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate legal information to non-legal stakeholders.
- Innovative and adaptable, with excellent collaboration, organizational, and time management skills.
- A deep passion for the renewable energy sector and a principled approach to fostering sustainable energy solutions.
- Strong research and writing skills.
